Huawei launched the Huawei Mate X as its first foldable phone in 2019. Now, the brand is reportedly working on announcing the world’s first tri-foldable phone. In recent Weibo posts, reliable tipster Digital Chat Station said that he has seen a prototype of the world’s first tri-foldable phone. This device features both an inward and outward fold with a dual-hinge mechanism. The screen size is estimated to be around 10 inches, and the crease control is reportedly well-managed.

However, the thickness of the device is more than that of a regular foldable phone, which is understandable. Additionally, the phone incorporates several cutting-edge technologies, making it unlikely that any competitors will emerge in the near future. He also said that the device will carry a premium price tag.

DCS stated in today’s Weibo post that Richard Yu’s actual tri-foldable phone matches the prototype he previously used during the research and development phase. As can be seen in the image, the screen has a punch-hole for the camera in the upper-left corner.

Under the hood, Huawei’s tri-foldable phone will feature the Kirin 9-series chipset. He stated that the device would make its debut before the Mate 70.

Earlier this month, Huawei unveiled the Nova Flip in China. It is speculated that the Nova 13 series of smartphones may break cover this month or in September. Reports indicate that the Mate 70 series will not launch until Q4 2024. This suggests that Huawei’s tri-foldable phone may break cover in September or October.
